Kansas Country

A few weeks ago my family and I made the long drive up to Kansas to visit family.
...and I actually remembered to bring my camera!

It's amazing how much one appreciates the quiet calm of the country when you've been immersed in the bustle of suburban-city life for a while.

I didn't capture anywhere close to all the beautiful views....but that's just because I was soaking it all in rather than documenting the details. ;)

Here are the few photos I did manage to take...

More Flowers...Imagine That.

I'm back again!

...with more photos of the same flowers...

...but with different angles and edits...

This country-vintage-ish edit makes me crave chicken fried chicken and smothered mashed potatoes.
Is that weird?

I love how sunflowers can look so good in black and white, too.
It's almost like dressing them in formal wear.
...which makes me think of wedding cake...

My dianthus are blooming loads more since last week, but the squirrels think it's great fun to rip the blooms off and scatter the petals on the ground.

Apparently they're pretty hacked that I didn't plant something more palatable. chicken, mashed potatoes, and cake.

I was thinking since we haven't seen each other for a long while, and since I happen to have a taken-within-the-last-week recent photo, I'd make an appearance with my husband...

Howdy, y'all!

Hiya, Stranger!

Didn't think you'd see me here again, did ya!

How have you been, my friends?

I had some down-time, which is rare. And a bit of the photo bug, which seems even rarer nowadays.
With flowers blooming so readily in my yard, I really had no excuse to not get out and shoot.

~ Sunflower Petals ~
{reminds me of our awesome church in Kansas where wild sunflowers grew along the back road}

~ Papery White Poppy ~
{my favorite flower at this exact moment}

~ Dianthus ~
{eye popping bright dianthus}

~ Classic Daisy ~
{I would love to hop in the shrinking magic school bus and land in the center of this flower}

...hopefully it won't be another eight months before I see you again...

Scripture & a Snapshot's New Home

A big thanks to those of you who offered to take over hosting Scripture & a Snapshot!
Of the people who stepped up to this plate, I have chosen Heather at Heather T Imagery to be the new host.
She is a dedicated blogger with a heart for God and I know she will do great things with this meme!
Be sure to visit her next Sunday for a new chapter of S&S.

Thanks also to all of you who commented with well wishes!
Letting go of S&S was a tough choice to make, but God is providing me with a new direction in my life: a work-from-home job that will allow me to do something I love, be my own boss, and yet remain available to my kids whenever they need me!

 I'm not sure when or if I will return to blogging regularly, but I thank each one of you who have joined me on this journey. And I pray God will bless each one of you as you go through your journeys!

Scripture & a Snapshot - Final Week

It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you I have decided not to continue hosting Scripture & a Snapshot. Life has recently taken me on turns that I never would have dreamed and those turns are keeping me far too busy to do this meme justice.

But, I'm hoping one of you would be willing to take the reigns and give this meme and its amazing participants the attention it deserves! If you are interested in hosting, please leave me a note in the comments with your blog address and a way to contact you or email me at and I will choose someone by Tuesday of this week.

Thank you for making this meme so successful and God-focused!
I am truly grateful for each one of you and your hearts to serve our amazing Lord.

Check back later in the week to see where Scripture & a Snapshot will be hosted next!
