Ah, Nuts!

Nuts

We found these on a trail near us - I have no idea what they are, though.
They were 'wrapped' like a walnut and the inside looks like that, too...

  8. We get a lot of black walnuts here. The outsides that hold the nut is a dirty black shell. (they start out green) As the squirrels bury them in my yard my dachshound digs them up. Poor squirrels!
