Blushing of Autumn

Blushing-of-Autumn

This is actually a photo from spring.
It has been sitting in a folder waiting to be processed...I just couldn't get the right feel for it until a few days ago.

I'm really happy with how it turned out and the fact that I had enough patience to wait three months to edit it!

And just for fun, here it is using my Vintage Polaroid set.

Me, My Girl & Iris

...did anyone get that title?!
It was supposed to be a spoof off of the movie title "Me, Myself and Irene".
Anyway, on to the photos!!

me-and-rowan---by-breck

This was taken by my 5 year old son with my dslr.
I think I did a pretty good job hiding my nervousness!
;)

And here are the irises.
Normally I have such difficulty photographing these particular flowers, but for whatever reason this day was a good one!

I wanted to brighten up this shot and give it a touch of seventies.

It's Kinda Girly...

coneflowers-in-the-wind

These two end of season coneflowers were swaying in the wind with not a care in the world.
I loved how those dainty petals were moving - just like a ballerina!

bubbles-and-legs

Bubbles always remind me of summer and I also wanted to capture the haze and humidity associated with summer, so I kept this shot slightly out of focus.

hydrangeas

I usually take a trip to the arboretum about once a month - sometimes more.
These lovely hydrangeas were new on my last visit!

One Terrific Tuesday

Bubbles and duck

Bubbles in the bath.
I miss those days...for myself, that is!

Spools of Thread

Just colorful spools of thread.
No rhyme or reason, I just thought they were pretty!

Bottles on the Ledge

Bottles from "around the house".
I have a habit of keeping pretty glass jars. This collection is mainly jars that had a past life: an olive jar, spaghetti sauce jar, and a club soda bottle. The cute little one is from the craft store...I couldn't resist.

Thankfulness

Cross

I'm so very thankful for unexpected reminders of Christ and how much He loves me.

(This is a window in a chicken coop.)

Yellow Leaf

I'm thankful for the beauty of Autumn, as fleeting as it is.

I'm thankful for the variety of things in our backyard, even though it's cold outside!

And I'm thankful for Captivus Living's new challenge that encourages us to try those seldomly used tools in photoshop!

Liquified-Flowers

Wow.
This was insanely fun!
A little too much fun, perhaps.

Vincent Van Gogh is hands down my all time favorite painter.
Starry Night is my all time favorite painting.
So I wanted to create a Starry-Night-Van-Gogh-esque type of photo.

Liquified-Flowers-sooc Liquified-Flowers

I use PSE 8 and did the following:

Step 1: Filter > Distort > Liquefy. Using the 'clockwise' and 'counter-clockwise' buttons, swirl the background.
Step 2: Filter > Distort > Liquefy. Using the 'bloat' button, enlarge the main flower and stem.

Just Another Day

B&R-Watching-Workers

One morning, on our off-day from preschool, we heard a lot of big machines and trucks outside.
So we investigated...through the front room window.
Turns out, there was a water leak somewhere along the pipeline and the crew was getting to work on it.
The kids loved watching all the cool vehicles dig and move, and they liked watching the men get into the giant hole.

It was a pleasantly surprising event to watch on a gloomy day!

MaplesOrange

I know this is ridiculously blurry, but I love the background and colors, so that's why I'm sharing this shot...plus, nearly all the leaves have fallen off this tree, so retaking it is not an option.

RedLight

The theme at Simplicity this week is 'daydream' - I was really at a loss for an awesome interpretation of that. So I chose this image.
