Scripture & a Snapshot - Final Week

Psalm-146-6

It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you I have decided not to continue hosting Scripture & a Snapshot. Life has recently taken me on turns that I never would have dreamed and those turns are keeping me far too busy to do this meme justice.

But, I'm hoping one of you would be willing to take the reigns and give this meme and its amazing participants the attention it deserves! If you are interested in hosting, please leave me a note in the comments with your blog address and a way to contact you or email me at katiellloyd@yahoo.com and I will choose someone by Tuesday of this week.

Thank you for making this meme so successful and God-focused!
I am truly grateful for each one of you and your hearts to serve our amazing Lord.

Check back later in the week to see where Scripture & a Snapshot will be hosted next!

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 89

Luke-22-19

I heard this song for the first time the other day while listening to the radio in my car and I've been singing it ever since...it's just another way to showcase the incredible love God has for us!

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 88

s&s-john-15-8

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23

This morning our family went blueberry picking at a local farm.
There were literally hundreds of people there...all with bags and bags full of fruit! We've never been to this farm before, so I was a little worried the crop would be sparse when we arrived at the fields.

However, the bushes were still overflowing with an abundance of fruit!

It is in these moments that I am reminded of Christ's abundant love...that He has plenty to give and will never run out!

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 87

Book Page Rosette Wreath - Unique Upcycled Teacher, Birthday or Anniversary Gift - Shabby Chic Eco Friendly Green Home Decor

She is energetic and strong, a hard worker.
She makes sure her dealings are profitable;
her lamp burns late into the night.
Her hands are busy spinning thread,
her fingers twisting fiber.

Proverbs 31:17-19

Right now I am definitely feeling like the Proverbs 31 woman...at least in verses 17 through 19.
The rest the verses, not so much.

I recently opened a second shop on Etsy {Anthology On Main} where I make and sell book page wreaths {pictured above} and pomanders, plus some other things.
I originally had only planned to list what I had time to make and then hope to sell it.
Instead, I've been receiving custom requests...which is absolutely awesome!
So far this month I've made two custom wreaths, 5 custom pomanders for a party, and am currently working on a HUGE order for a wedding. I'm making 17 pomanders, the bridal bouquet and (likely) all the boutineers as well!

I am amazed and so very thankful that God has blessed me with this new path, but it's also a bit overwhelming!

I've really slacked on keeping the house clean, meal planning is a distant memory, my camera is collecting dust, and blogging has certainly taken a backseat to it all...this is why you've seen zero comments from me over the past few weeks.

Over the next week I also hope to incorporate verse 20 into my regular routine:

She extends a helping hand to the poor
and opens her arms to the needy.

Earlier in the week I saw a blog post about the organization Compassion International and was absolutely touched and moved and knew this is something I want to do.

In what ways do you find yourself like the Proverbs 31 woman?
In what ways are you striving to be?

...and now I want to leave you with this song that was sung in church last week.
It's a country song, but I want you to listen and hear it as if Jesus was singing it to you...

I hope you all have a blessed week!!!

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 85

Jonah-2-5

I really dropped the ball this week on Scripture & a Snapshot....I am so sorry!

We had a long week filled with errands, orders from my Etsy shops, a trip to the doctor, then a trip to the hospital for an x-ray with the most stubborn and strong 3 year old I've ever seen (everything is ok, by the way!), then my awesome in-laws came down for a several-day visit, Seth and I went on a movie date night, and then the whole family spent all Saturday down at the gulf in Galveston.

It's been a mostly good but very overwhelming week.
And I know that whether I'm overwhelmed by the daily things in life or worse, God will be there to pull me from the waves!

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 84

Scripture and a Snapshot - Matthew 10:29 - 8x10 Fine Art Nature Photography Print - Christian Bible Verse Inspirational Home Decor Photo

Earlier in the week there was an incident { read: the buyer's inspector flooded our kitchen hardwood floor, thereby warping a 4'x9' section and didn't tell anyone about it! } with our house in Kansas that we're selling which made things nearly impossible to close on Friday.
However, by Thursday afternoon Seth and our Realtor, with a lot of help from God, were able to get the necessary things done in order for the 3pm closing on Friday to still happen!

We now only own one house, which feels fantastic!
No more double mortgage payments, no more double utilities payments, no more lawn service for a house we don't occupy, no more worries about things going wrong because we're not there!

Through this, God has reminded me that He will take care of us.
Rarely in the time frame or ways I expect Him to, but in the end He is faithful and loving and ever present!

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
    His faithful love endures forever.

There are no less than 40 instances of this verse throughout the Bible, reassuring us that He is good! He is faithful! And His love is forever!
{ ...you think 40 instances is a coincidence?! }

In what ways have you seen God's goodness, faithfulness and love this week?

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 81

Isaiah-53-5-8x10

This Easter I am thankful for a Savior who chose not to be invisible!
Who loves me so much He wrote His name on my sins and paid the hefty price of torture and death.
Who then defeated death and rose from the grave so that I will be transformed...in my earthy life as well as heavenly...and live with Him for eternity.

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 80

1-corinthians-15-22-wm

Thursday I flew to Iowa to spend time with my family and today I attended my Grandma's funeral.
She suffered with cancer for the last several months and, in a way, her death was a relief.
It's easy to grieve her passing...she was a wonderful woman who loved everyone that walked through her front door and she welcomed them as I imagine Christ would.

And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.
1 John 4:17

Yet now she has been transformed! She is living a pain-free life with our Creator!

What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.
But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed!
1 Corinthians 15:50-51

While I'm sad she's gone, I do not wish to take away her amazing experience of going home and meeting Jesus face to face.

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 79

gen-1-14-sm

The thing about reading Genesis, Chapter 1 is that it doesn't go into much detail.
We're not told in scientific terms how God created the Earth, just that He created it.

I personally agree with the thought that God made things with a certain order to them and we call that order science, whether it's physics, biology, astronomy, etc. I think it's fascinating, intriguing, and awesome to learn about the ways in which God put our solar system, earth, and human bodies together...and He did it with such intricacies!

But not everyone agrees with me. Many Christians put themselves at odds with science. And while I think it's unfortunate, I also think it's ok.

Because in the end, Genesis Chapter 1 is given to us to explain the most important part of our existence in very simple terms: God made everything.

When we understand the who, the details don't even matter!

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 78

Psalm-26-12

"Now I stand on solid ground, and I will publicly praise the Lord."
Psalm 26:12

Do you praise the Lord publicly?

It's something I'm mildly uncomfortable doing.
I'm so worried about what others think of me that I forget it's God's opinion that truly counts!

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 77

Psalm-144-1---My-Rock---ful

slightly adapted from Psalm 144:1 The Message
{ ...I used "rock" instead of "mountain"... }

I really like this version of Psalm 144:1.
Most versions talk about war and battle, which is literally what David was praising God for, but it doesn't apply to most of us in modern day....at least not in the hand to hand bloody combat sense.

It does, however, apply to us in a broader sense.
We, as Christians, are all trying to disarm and kill the enemy: Satan.
He has waged war over us very impressionable, easily coerced and misled humans.
And he wins far too often.

Scripture even refers to him as the "ruler" of this world.

But when we put our faith and trust in God, He will give us the knowledge and tools needed to fight the battles against evil.
And He gives us the reassurance and promise that this epic war has already been won by Him!

"The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out."
John 12:31

Last week our pastor actually spoke about Satan and demons.
This isn't a topic I expected during Lent, but is one I have a thousand questions about.
While no one but God has all the answers about Satan and demons, I found this sermon to be helpful and thought you might too.

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 76

Happy March everyone!
:)

Before we get to the linky this week there are some things that need addressing...

First, I must apologize.
I've been a terrible commenter and host.
I am so sorry for not being an active part of this meme for far too long.

Over the past week I resolved to leave a comment on each of your entries.
And when doing so, I was saddened by the complete lack of comments being left for others.

I wholeheartedly admit that I have dropped the ball on this, too.
As host of this meme, I'm realizing I need to step up and be the example of what I expect from you, the participants.
...namely, interaction with others...

While this meme was created to give glory to God through our photos, it was also created to be a community where we support and encourage one another, where we share and interact.
I'm afraid that, like so many churches, this meme is dying.
I think many of us - myself included - have simply been going through the motions.
...we find a photo, slap a verse on it, throw it in a post, link up and call it done...

This week let's not just go through the motions!
Let's all be engaged and show love for one another through thoughtful and uplifting comments.
After all, behind each post is a real person.

...I don't expect you to comment on every entry...how about starting with the three ahead of yours?...

I'm also open to any suggestions or comments you may have to help improve S&S!

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 74

Coldness-of-Spring---2-15-1

...anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
2 Corinthians 5:17

Amen and Amen!
I definitely consider myself a 'born again' Christian.
I grew up knowing Christ as my savior and God as my creator.
But, like many, I strayed from that knowledge.
I put it on a back shelf for a more convenient time.

During that time I still certainly belonged to Jesus.
He claimed me.
I didn't really claim Him.

Once I had my first child that all started to change.
I started to realize the importance of claiming Christ.
Not just for myself, but for my child and the well-being of my marriage.

Once I claimed Christ I changed.
My old life was gone.

My new { and much more spiritually fabulous } life had begun!

I really encourage you to read 2 Corinthians, Chapter 5.
I personally find it to be a motivational chapter, but it also offers comfort and promise.
...and when it comes to reading the Bible, you never can tell what you'll get out of it!

***

I also want to ask those of you who took on the "challenge" from last week how it went for you.
{for those who don't know, the challenge was to thank God for something each and every time you saw, smelled or ate bread}

Did you notice a change in your mood or attitude?
Did it help you in some way?

I'd love to hear about your experience with this challenge!!

I personally found myself in a much better mood...I was happier, calmer, and generally more focused.
I also felt much closer to God and more cognizant of all the things - be it big or small - that He really has blessed me with.

I admit, there were times when I glanced at those rolls on my counter and somehow forgot all about this challenge, not thanking Him for a single thing.
There were also times when I'd see bread and had to really stretch to find something, anything, at that moment that I was thankful for. These times usually happened when my kids were fighting or throwing tantrums!

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 73 { & a Challenge }

Luke-22-19

The deeper my relationship gets with Christ, the more it hits me that He came for me...He came for you.
Not as a generalized group, but He died for each of us specifically, by name.
He died so that the broke, the lost, the unknown {read: you and I} could be saved through Him.

And He gave us a very tangible thing by which to always remember Him and His sacrifice.
Bread.

That's pretty genius!
Everyone eats bread in some form or another be it unleavened, gluten free, whole wheat, rosemary herb, ...I think even donuts and puff pastries could count here!

The point is....this is a daily thing we encounter.

Yet how many of us actually think of Christ when we eat, see or smell bread?
I know I don't.
But we should.

This week I'd like to challenge you with something...
Every time you eat, see or smell bread take a moment and thank God for giving us His only son.
{ imagine giving up your son or daughter for undeserving people }

If you'd like to "up the ante" thank Him for three things each time you encounter bread.
And write them down.
At the end of the day or week look back over how many times you have thanked God.
...I'm willing to bet that day or week was a good one...

Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 72

ephesians-4-29

I don't know about you, but sometimes my mouth can get me into trouble.
...the things I sometime say about people, the things I sometimes say yell at my kids, and the attitude I can get when I'm tired or frustrated or overwhelmed.

I need this reminder that what I say really does matter.
It affects my family and friends, as well as myself.

And I must remember each and every day to only use words that will bless and not hurt.
I want the things that come out of my mouth to be like this rose in full bloom with its pleasing fragrance...not when it has become decayed and rotted.
