Family Portraits - Mom & Son
About a month ago I had the pleasure of taking pictures for a small family.
They were incredibly sweet and this little guy is absolutely adorable!

I always love it when my clients are so willing to go with the flow and let their kids be kids.

And this mom and son duo were awesome!

She brought "snappers" for him to play with which was an absolutely genius idea!
...aren't those little legs just the cutest things ever?!...

...as well as his mischievous little grin!

Family Session & Giveaway Number Five Winner
Last Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing the following family.
They were so sweet and friendly and really made my job easy!
Are they not just the cutest family ever?!
There's something about shots of a Daddy snuggling and loving on his kids that absolutely melts my heart.
Just look at that little face!
He was such a trooper through the entire hour-long session.
Kudos to Mom and Dad for raising such a well mannered son!
In the above shot, I asked them to lay on their tummies {yep, that's how I said it. can you tell I'm a mom?!} and this is how they posed themselves. I try hard to not pose people any more than what's necessary because this way their true personalities are able to shine through in full force!
His smile is so infectious!
I'm personally a big fan of shots like this.
It shows a family in a {somewhat} natural state...not posing for the camera or forcing a smile, but rather an embodiment of togetherness.

I had a family/three-year old session this past Saturday and in preparation for it, I took Rowan out for a mini session. I figured if I can get through a session with her, then I can do anything! ;)

Mostly, she wanted to make silly faces...

and play...

and look at anything but the camera...

and sit on every. single. bench.

or just run away.

...and make silly faces.
Oh wait, I already said that.
If you want to see more form this "session" head over to my family blog, Bring on the Lloyds...

A Family Portrait Shoot

Over the weekend I had a portrait session with my brother-in-law's family.
Aren't they good looking?!

I took their engagement photos last year and they are so natural in front of the camera that it makes getting beautiful shots a breeze!

"My momma always said you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes, where they're goin, where they've been."
-Forrest Gump

But I bet you didn't guess from their shoes that they're also expecting!!!

I love that they are so willing to do "fun" shots!

And show genuine moments in front of the camera.

As well as let their inner cheerleader out once in a while. ;)

Surviving the Heat

This summer...specifically the past three weeks...has been a scorcher.
{I know many of you are in this same heat-wave-that-doesn't-seem-to-be-going-anywhere boat.}
So, we've done what any family with fair-skinned children and a budget do: we've stayed inside.
Thanks to our local library we're maintaining a modicum of entertainment...primarily by checking out video games.
We've also checked out lots and lots of books, but during these last few weeks leading up to school, I don't mind letting my kids veg-out.

Of course, household chores must still be done amid the fun.
And Rowan is all too happy to help water the plants.

Even if it does end with mopping the floors.
