Edit to add: Thanks to several commenters for the clarification on this insect - it's a damselfly and not a dragonfly, as I had originally titled it.
These were all handheld shots, so please excuse my (lack of) focus!


I normally only see these little guys around water, so I'm not sure why he was in our yard.
But he proved to be a willing and patient model!
(and no, he wasn't dead.)

Here's a point of reference to his size for those of you who haven't seen these before;
the grass in our yard is about 5 inches (13 cm) tall.

ReplyDeleteKatie all my shots are handheld - tripods just don't capture the moment and I'd rather be a free spirit with my camera around wildlife. I think these are just wonderful shots and I would love to see one of these visit my garden. I think it could be a damselfly as its holding its wings at its side.
