The past week has been wonderful!
If you're wondering why I've not been posting daily anymore, it's because I've finally put my priorities in proper order!
I've spent so much more time with my kids - we've played games and wrestled, had mini Wii tournaments, painted, read loads of books, and enjoyed the here-and-now moments.
I said things like:
"I'm on my way!" instead of "I'll be there in a few minutes."
"Yes, you can paint!" instead of "Not today, it's too messy."
"Sure, we'll make jigglers right now!" instead of "Maybe tomorrow."
I'm slowly learning to appreciate all the precious moments God has given us together, rather than taking it all for granted.
Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12
With all that said, I did make some time for photography and editing, though, because I love it and it also keeps me sane and relaxed!
I recently saw something like this on a Blackberry commercial and wanted to try it. This isn't really close to what I had in mind, but my kids saw all these shoes set out and thought it was dress up time! They were pretty excited, so I went with it.
A spilled jar of kosher salt.
Not much to say about that.
This is my son's biplane that he got for Christmas.
I have more shots of it coming up on Friday.
Good for you!!!! and beautiful photography. Your Psalm is the one I am using on Sunday... GMTA

ReplyDeleteLove that first photo! Too cute! Glad you were able to step away from blogging and spend quality time with your kiddos!
ReplyDeleteOnce again great photos - and love that your week has gone so well as Mama, not blogger!
ReplyDeleteSo great! Glad to hear it.
ReplyDeleteThat first image is so wonderful.
I love the shoes :) and the little feet in them.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great time enjoying your children. Keep it up. And love the shot of them filling your shoes.

ReplyDeleteWhat you wrote is so true! Good for you for saying, "YES, we can do that now!" Things always seem to be much better when I get off my hiney and off this darn computer. I'm sure your kids are loving it!
ReplyDeleteGood for you!! It always makes me happy to hear when mommies have their priorities correct, and still find a little "me" time to do something they enjoy! These are all great photos, but my fav is the one with your shoes and kids! Love how you just rolled with it - and I love how it turned out!
ReplyDeleteAmazing... I am in love with the first image!
ReplyDeleteI have re-ordered my priorities as well. :) Love the photos!
ReplyDeleteI love these. I have been working on reordering my priorities too. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteI love the kids in the shoes, so adorable that they want to "be" in your shoes. Never feel bad about spending more time with your kids, we'll be here to catch up when they go to bed or whatever. :)

ReplyDeleteI love how your first shot turned out - and how it captures the essence of your recent Let's Do It! perspective shift. :) Your motherhood is inspirational!
ReplyDeleteLove these shots and your priorities! I need to do the same...thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I've had something like the shoe photo in mind too! Gotta get on that one :) Your interpretation is always lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love that first photo and I am so in line with your priority thing. Ever since I finished doing my 365 I have felt like I say yes consistently to my kids and haven't even realized it!!! It's like God gave me a very gentle reminder about where I should really be !!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Time away from the computer is important. I had some forced time away last week when my computer broke. At the time I was really upset, but I think God's hands were in this because it really helped me to reprioritize. Like you, I've been spending WAY more time coloring Dora, making pretend soup and reading books by our heater.
ReplyDeleteYour picture of your shoes (with some extra feet) is so sweet, and really such a great photo!
Oh what a cute photo. And how wise of you! When my kids were little, I remember reading a little saying that said something like - dust and cobwebs (and computers) will be with us for a lifetime, but our children are only here for a moment - Thirty years later, I can attest to the truth of that.
ReplyDeleteAnd tell you I'm right there with you having even more fun with Wii games for the grand kids (not to mention us seniors playing with them) and staying even busier than when I was young. I'm STILL working to keep priorities straight. It's a never ending battle, but GOD will give us the wisdom to make the right choices. :) Have a blessed day.
Great photos! I love the one of your children standing in the shoes. I hope that one ends up in a frame on the wall!!
ReplyDeleteLove the salt- Love those tight macro shots that make the ordinary into interesting.
ReplyDeleteI have done exactly the same thing with my children this week. How often do we say..later on? They are such precious moments that slip through our fingers far too quickly we must latch on to them while we can.
ReplyDeleteThat first shot is so darned cute!
ReplyDeleteLove all of these! That 1st capture turned out great. Now, I wanna do it. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your first shot - great composition!!

Good for you Katie...time away from the computer is so necessary. I am starting to take more of a break also...I love these photos.
ReplyDeleteThat's adorable!
ReplyDeleteOh.my.goodness! That picture of them in your shoes is just priceless. TOO CUTE!!!! Good for you on changing the way you answer the kiddos. That was a pill I had to swallow last year and have continued to take this year. I waiting LONG years to have kiddos and then I find myself telling them "no" or "hang on" so I can be on the computer. Nope, not anymore.
