Scripture & A Snapshot {Week 19}

We had 71 participants last week!!

What?! That is crazy.
And it's completely by the grace of God and all of you who regularly participate, because I know I didn't have anything to do with that amazing number!

I want to apologize for not comment on everyone's post for the last 2 weeks. I don't see that changing any time soon, but please know that I will visit everyone, and comment when I have time.
(Saying Yes to my family means saying No to very time consuming blog commenting)

With there being so many newcomers, I thought it would be a good time to review the "rules" of this challenge. Last week I deleted quite a few links because they either had nothing to do with scripture or photography or both. Some were more blog and self promotion than promoting the Love of God.

You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves.
We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake.

2 Corinthians 4:5

Also, many links took us directly to the main blog, and not the post. Please use the permalink - the link specifically to your post - as it can be difficult to find the Scripture & a Snapshot post once it has been buried.

In order to keep some order to this quickly growing link-up, I'm going to be a little more...administrative....in the future and will delete links that don't adhere to the format of this challenge. If you currently add the blog hop code to your post, you may want to include a link to the rules and encourage people to read them prior to linking up.

I started hosting this challenge, with a lot of serious prompting and nudging from God, as a way for those of us who enjoy photography to give it more purpose and a way to give God the glory for all the things we capture with our cameras.

Want to join in this challenge?
Here's how to participate:

1. Select a scripture.
My hope is that each week you will search your Bible and select a verse that has meaning for you.
Here's a link to a good Bible verse search engine.

2. Add a photo to it.
I hope that you will chose a photo that goes with your chosen scripture, and not just throw these two elements together. The photo can be from your archives or a new shot. Please only use your own photos. You can have the scripture on your photo, below it, make a collage - however you want, as long as the two elements are together!

3. Put the Scripture & a Snapshot button in your post.
You won't be deleted or banned if you don't. It just helps spread the word...and the Word. ;)

It also helps visitors from the blog hop quickly identify your Scripture & a Snapshot post.

4. Come back here and link up your post.
Please link directly to your Scripture & A Snapshot post, not the home page of your blog.

*****

The past week has brought to my attention and mind many people who are going through some seriously scary and trying times: the death of a child, an unfaithful spouse, and my own grandma who found out she has cancer (thankfully, it's skin cancer in her toe and hopefully that's where it ends). And in every instance I am reminded that God is always with us - walking along side us, no matter the circumstances.

Throughout the Bible we are continually reminded of his steadfast love and faithfulness.

(the following are portions of verses:)

He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6

He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Deuteronomy 31:8

I will not fail you or abandon you.
Joshua 1:5

      I will not forsake them.
Isaiah 42:16

He will not fail you or forsake you.
1 Chronicles 28:20

   “I will never fail you.
      I will never abandon you.
Hebrews 13:5

There are many more instances of God's reassuring love found in the Bible. And I am very thankful that there are so many! As part of the human condition, we need this continual reminder - God knows this and provides!

  4. I love your photo, Katie, and isn't it great that all we have to do is what is RIGHT...what a wonderful promise that God will not fail!

  5. Let's see how to say this...

It is always good to be reminded of God's promises and today is no exception.

On a technical note, I appreciate that you are willing to take the hard stance of deleting blogs that are not focused on Christ alone.

    Blessings!

  9. I cling to those promises of God, I pray those promises back to Him and I plead those promises......... and He hears me and knows my needs and meets them - Praise be to the Lord.

Thankyou Katie for giving me to opportunity to share my love for Christ through the meme with my photography.

I'm glad you are tightning the rein on submissions though I never got to comment on everyone's blog last week either but did notice that sometimes I wasn't taken to the Scripture post and had to go looking for it.

May you and your loved ones have a blessed week.

  10. AMEN!! Thank God that He'll never fail us!!! My in-laws are going through the "valley of the shadow of death" this last week (and it's not going to be over any time soon) and it's such a blessing to be reminded that no matter what, He's always with us and will never fail us! Thanks so much for sharing this today! :) I love the pic you picked out to go with the verses.

It's sad that something that's meant to share God with others is already being polluted. Thanks for your work to admin this link-up!

  11. I'm working on something to link up with, and had a question - I have a photo and a verse, and had them together on a digi scrapbook page. Is that okay?? Or are you really just wanting the photo and verse, no embellishment??
