Yep...I went out in the midwest blizzard!
And it was awesome.
And it was awesome.
Before:
After:
I use PSE 8 to edit and here's what I did:
Step 1. Make a duplicate layer and set opacity to multiply.
Step 2. Add a bokeh overlay and set opacity to color burn.
(I achieved the dark lines around the poles because of dark spots in the bokeh overlay)
Step 3. Marge visible and lower saturation about 50%.
Step 4. Added a new layer, then used a star brush to add an orange snowy-starburst effect to the lights. Then I set the opacity of this new layer to overlay.
Step 5. Merge visible once more and crop to 8x10.
Wow, those are BOTH beautiful...really stunning work, love them!
ReplyDeleteI like both but I really like the before. glad I wasn't the only one getting out in the middle of the blizzard taking photos. LOL
ReplyDeleteHave a good one!!!
You always do such a great job in your edits! Both are so neat!
ReplyDeleteI like them both, but prefer the before one also. Beautiful coloring!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, but I have to say that i love the one with a touch of blue in it!
ReplyDeleteI can't get over how you and some others display your editing. What a nightmare it is for me to write down everything that I've done, or am doing, while doing it. So much easier to just go, go, go...for me :) But, that would make you a much better teacher than I - see, I am one who learns hands on, get in there and work it out; trying to teach someone while doing that is only going to frustrate them.
ReplyDeleteYou do a fine job...love the bokeh and your editing on this one, dramatizing the scene.
Nice job, Katie :)
Very cool shot and edit! Glad you made it through the blizzard! :)
