I shared this on my family blog, too. But I went back and ran an action on it - Jubilee by Paint the Moon, I think...man, do I love that one!!
It's another flower from the bouquet my husband got for me from our anniversary. This one is a fuji mum - Thanks for id-ing this flower for me, Sheri!! - there were also daisies in it that I shared last week, as well as regular mums and roses...of which I've yet to take decent shots.
Ashley's awesome tree inspired me to play with the threshold filter in PSE - I played around with it and came up with this shot. To me, it feels like a sketch from an old children's storybook.

The 2nd photo is STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS!!! I don't why but I can't stop staring at it. It really looks like a drawing from a kid's storybook. The trees, the setting, the little boy.. everything.. I love it!
ReplyDeletegreat macro!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! What type of macro lens do you have? I'll have to check out that action too. :)
ReplyDeleteThat super high black and white contrast works really well with that tree image. I agree – reminds me of a sketch.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The coloring is just gorgeous in the flower.
ReplyDeleteI went to Amber's yesterday( via Jill's blog!) and loved it!! Your pics are stunning!! And, love the action on the flowers! Hope you have a great day!

ReplyDeleteLove the processing on the last one- wow
ReplyDeleteYou've captured the flower beautifully and the B&W is brilliant. I'm going to try it out! Tks for sharing it.

ReplyDeleteHey Katie! I'm back again! Quick question for you and others. I need to find a reliable printing company. I am not pleased with my current one. Any ideas? Thanks so much!!

Susan -
ReplyDeleteI actually use Costco to get my photos printed. I've been really happy with them so far - there's an option to turn off auto color correcting which is great for those of us who edit our shots! And the best thing of all is that they are super duper affordable. The only downside is that you have to be a member.
Another place I've used and LOVED was mpix.com. They are a little more pricey on 11x14 size and up, but they are super fast and very professional!!!
That mum is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI love both of these! So good! I really have a thing for high contrast b/w winter trees this year. Very artsy and interesting, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteWow...stunning shots!
ReplyDeleteI love Jubilee too! Beautiful flower.
ReplyDeleteFabulous black and white!!
ReplyDeleteSo much drama in that BW shot!

Love the mum!! Reminds me of spring!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's a pretty awesome tree edit -- it almost looks like something from the little house books...
GIRL!!! That second picture is just amazing! I LOVE IT!!! The mum is beautiful too! I can't get Jublilee to open in my PSE for some reason. Not sure what I've done there but figured I wouldn't bother you with it. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat mum shot is incredible! I love it! :)
