My most favorite songs are Christmas songs.
When our son was born I didn't know/couldn't remember any lullabies, so I sang Silent Night, O Holy Night, and other Christmas songs to him before bedtime. I sang those because they comfort me. They make me feel loved and peaceful and whole.
My favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night.
And my most favorite part of that song is "Fall on your knees"
I've heard that song a million times and that line never fails to give me goose bumps.
Fall on your knees.
I don't do this enough!
MercyMe also puts it well in their song I Can Only Imagine:
Will I dance for you Jesus, or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah? Will I be able to speak at all?
You can listen to these songs in the player below.
I also want to share the promo video from our church for the current Advent series of sermons.
It runs Nov 28 - Jan 2, and you can watch each sermon online by going here.
I am continually moved by the sermons at our church - unlike anywhere else I've ever attended. I hope you'll give one of the sermons from this series a try because I really think they have a lot to offer.

Fall on your knees. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what I will do when I first meet Jesus face to face. I am inclined to fall on my face, unworthy if it were not for His shed blood on the Cross for ME! I am so undeserving.
That's one of my favorite carols too. And I love the softness over the photo. It gives a dreaminess to it.
ReplyDeletebek
I used to play "Oh Holy Night" on the piano and the organ. I have so many favourite Christmas hymns and my hubby starts playing Christmas music from the middle of November.
ReplyDeleteYour player won't play here in the UK - but I simply adore the Mercy Me version of I can only imagine and their video for that song but I also love Amy Grant's version aswell. I must pop over to youtube to hear Josh Groben as that's a new name to me.
I'll pass on your advent links to my dh - we can't travel to church today due to the weather so we are depending on the internet for services.
The words to hymns and Christmas carols are so powerful. Love the sweet little hands on the piano keys. So precious.
ReplyDeleteKatie, such a precious picture, but such a wonderful reminder of praise that is due our Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ.

ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL picture! Cherish it forever girl!!!!! You know...I think it is fabulous that you sing christmas carols like that to the kiddos. I have never thought to do that, but will start now. Christmas songs are some of the "meatiest" songs telling about our Jesus! I love it.
ReplyDeleteJason sings "I can only imagine" and I just get goosebumps every.single.time. Such a powerful song!
I love that line as well!
