Scripture & A Snapshot {Week 25}

John 3:16

Given that we're in the Lenten Season - the weeks leading up to Easter - I though this a fitting verse for today.

And I'd like to share The Message version, too. I love how this translation is so straight forward and in easy to understand language:

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

John 3:16-18

Want to join in this challenge?
Here's how to participate:

1. Select a scripture.
My hope is that each week you will search your Bible and select a verse that has meaning for you.
Here's a link to a good Bible verse search engine.

2. Add a photo to it.
I hope that you will chose a photo that goes with your chosen scripture, and not just throw these two elements together. The photo can be from your archives or a new shot. Please only use your own photos. You can have the scripture on your photo, below it, make a collage - however you want, as long as the two elements are together!

3. Put the Scripture & a Snapshot button in your post.
You won't be deleted or banned if you don't. It just helps spread the word...and the Word. ;)

It also helps visitors from the blog hop quickly identify your Scripture & a Snapshot post.

4. Come back here and link up your post.
Please link directly to your Scripture & A Snapshot post, not the home page of your blog.

Thanks, Katie. How did you ever get that photo. Quite nice.

  3. Hi Katie, I'm joining Scripture & a Snapshot for the first time today. I just know I will have so much fun with this meme. It reminds me of Biblical Literature class long time ago.

John 3: 16 is one of my favorite verses, and one I memorize since childhood. Glad to read it again today.

  4. Lovely photograph and Scripture. And, wow, the Message does communicate those verses in such a straight forward manner. (I've actually never read the Message, so it was neat to read this portion of it.)

  15. I really love this picture! I love how you edited it. It's beautiful. And the verse is profound reminder of the cross. We need a daily reminder of that. I think so many Christians, including me, forget the suffering Jesus indured. We water it down.
