The actual name of this flower species is allium. I find them very unusual and like them all the more for that very reason! The bloom itself is a giant mass of tiny flowers which form a ball and sit atop a slender, leafless stem.
Onions are also alliums and if you allow them to bloom, you'll get a very similar puff of flowers!
one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteThose are very pretty! The color is very fresh and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove this Katie.
ReplyDeleteFirst -- this and probably another close relative (the flowers are a bit more spread out and the petals are more pointy... I'll post a pic on my blog and then ask you if they're the same!) are one of my favorite spring flowers!! And I was so hoping someone would know the name of them -- and you do!!! Woo-hoo!! I'm thinking I need to make a trip to the store to purchase some star gazer lilies and some alliums!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot, of course!! Goes without saying that I love this! hehe!
btw, I'm going to email you a pic of my kitchen stove... hehe! see if you can figure out what's different about it! lol!
