Scripture & a Snapshot - Week 70

Welcome to week seventy of Scripture & a Snapshot!
...week seventy...
7-0
That's 1.25 years.
Wow!

I know God has been busy working through this link-up and it is amazing!
I am so humbled to be a part of this wonderful challenge to give God His due glory through the gifts He has given us!

*****

I think all of you know by now that we recently moved to Texas from Kansas.
And I've been having a tough time adjusting to our new life.
We don't have any friends or family here and with Seth being out of state for work this week, it's been really lonely.
{military wives, I do not know how you do it!!}
I've whined and complained talked with several of you through email about this and I thank you for your friendship, your listening ear, and your prayers!

Wednesday night I could not fall asleep, so I decided to read my Bible.
I asked God to guide me to a verse or chapter that would help me with our move.
And God, in His infinite wisdom and love, directed me to the Parable of the Great Feast in Luke 14:15-24.
But what really resonated with me was what was written in the footnotes:
"He never asks us to give up something good unless He plans to replace it with something even better."
It might not pertain to my situation, but it gave me hope.

Then Thursday afternoon, when we got home from picking Breck up from school, one of our neighbors was out with her child. So the kids and I went out to the circle...they played and us moms talked.
For an hour and a half.
Again, God knew what I needed and He delivered!

And on Friday morning when I checked my email, I had our church's grow.pray.study guide waiting for me.
The verse for that day was Philippians 4:8-9.

"Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse."
(MSG)

So this week I am thankful for a God who is real and loving, warm weather, friends I've never met in person, and dishwashers.
:)

UPDATE: this afternoon/evening we spent three hours outside visiting with our awesome neighbors!

Want to join in this challenge?
Here's how to participate:

1. Select a scripture.
My hope is that each week you will search your Bible and select a verse that has meaning for you.
Here's a link to a good Bible verse search engine.

2. Add a photo to it.
I hope that you will chose a photo that goes with your chosen scripture, and not just throw these two elements together. The photo can be from your archives or a new shot. Please only use your own photos. You can have the scripture on your photo, below it, make a collage - however you want, as long as the two elements are together!

3. Put the Scripture & a Snapshot button in your post.
You won't be deleted or banned if you don't. It just helps spread the word...and the Word. ;)

It also helps visitors from the blog hop quickly identify your Scripture & a Snapshot post.

4. Come back here and link up your post.
Please link directly to your Scripture & a Snapshot post, not the home page of your blog.

  1. Oh Katie!! I'm so sorry this has been a rough week for you. You sure looked GREAT today when we talked. :) I have been lifting you up in prayer and will continue to do that. Please call or Skype whenever you need to. Next time we can chat with NO kids. It is so amazing how God can just point you to the right verses in His love letter to us just when it is needed. And praise God He sends us people in real life to be a shoulder to lean on when needed.

Glad you are very much enjoying the warmer weather and glad you like that dishwasher too! I'm going to eventually get me one. HA!

  3. Katie I am rejoicing how Great our God is to come along side you in such a visible way.

I've thought of your snake all week. Really still creapin' me out... can't imagine it in MY yard. And it's not like it's not possible. At our old house we had a snake NEST under the SANDBOX!!!

Praying next week is a better one.

  6. Katie, I have moved many times -eight times in 21 years of marriage with several across state lines- and I so know how you feel. Give yourself time, it just takes time to feel at home in a new place. And the way you are pressing into God is the remedy. In each move, I learned more about Him and myself through the loneliness. And now I look back at some of the times as the most tender, intimate and maturing in my relationship with Christ. Praying for you and thanking God for those precious encounters with new friends. He is good.

  7. Week 70! Wow, so awesome. Thanks for being so faithful! I haven't linked up in a while because my blogging has been so sporadic lately. I am so glad you are starting to feel connected in your new home. I've been there, it is so hard to move. Thanks for sharing about how God is working!

  10. Congrats on such a successful and powerful link up. And you're right, I do believe God is working in it!

Hang in there, it's hard getting to know people when you move, but just keeping trying. Sooner or later you'll meet some good friends!

  11. It takes time Katie though I think having kids makes it so much easier to make friends somewhere new. I've been there too and I can sooooooooo relate to this.

  12. "He never asks us to give up something good unless He plans to replace it with something even better." AMEN and AMEN!!! However, we got to get it though our tough heads that WHEN he replaces it is his timing... not ours! sigh!

Praying for your family and for you to settle in and grow some roots, and find a new (blessed) support system! Sounds like you're off to a good start!

    Hugs and love sweet friend!!

  14. Love the photo. So glad you are getting to know your neighbors. I can't imagine what it must be like to move to place where you no absolutely no one. What part of Texas do you live in? My sister and her family live there. He is a pastor.

  19. Such a lovely picture! I love the softness of it. That is one of my favorite verses. I find myself using it often with my children. We moved a coupe of years ago, so I can relate to how you feel. So awesome God is filling up your fellowship tank.

  20. I can so remember how I struggled when we first moved to Florida. It was one of the hardest transitions of my life and still 3 years later can feel a little lonely, but God does provide those moments of clarity through His word or the words of His people that remind me He is with me.

I pray God continues to speak to your heart during this time and that one day you will look back and see His hand all over the situation even more than you do now. I pray God pours solid friendships into your life and that you fall in love with Texas like you never dreamed you would.
