Lipstick Vines

Flowers-on-blue

I am completely clueless as to the name of this flower...I totally made up the title name!
This beauty was climbing its way up the children's "house" at the arboretum this summer.
I'd love to have this plant outside my window!

ETA: Big thanks to Rosie for cluing me in to the name of this plant: "Mina lobata" or spanish flag.

  1. Katie, this shot is just lovely! I'm not sure of the name of the flower either! On a side note, would you be willing to please tell me how you sized your photo to be this large on blogspot? Mine are just pitifully squatty!! I've played around with the html a bit, but definitely not enough. You can reach me at scrunnermom@gmail.com if you have the time. Hope y'all have a great daY!
    Hugs!

  14. Hi Katie

I like the title you gave to this climbere and I adore the light in your photograph and that blue sky. Good light and blue sky are lacking here at this time of year for us.

Your climber is called "Mina lobata" or spanish flag :)

  16. I totally believed you! Gorgeous! Like a previous commenter, I would love to know how you have such a large picture. Is it because the blog is one column and the default picture is that size?

  22. I was about to ask where you found all these different type of flowers until you posted this. :) Our arboretum is a good ways away (granted we live in the country.) but they are building new one about 20 minutes away. They have been working on it for about a year. I can't wait for them to finish it.
