Today marks the beginning of the posts on composition and what it takes to achieve good composition.
While I am all for breaking the rules, first you have to know the rules before you can successfully break them.
One of the most basic rules that applies to almost everything...from photography to floral arrangements to landscaping...is the Rule of Odds, which states that an odd number of items/focal points are more visually appealing than an even number.
Here are a few examples:
{because it also applies to blog posts!}
EXERCISE #2
Take a photograph with two or four items. Now also take a photograph of one, three, or five items.
Post them to your blog or flickr account and tell us which do you like best and why.
You have through October 24th to link up!
Please include this button with your post so others can participate too!

ReplyDeleteAlright girlie, got my evens and odds up. They sure were fun to do. And I missed your blog comment the first time. I need to go back and count my pics I shared... Haha.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I've never heard of the rule of odds before, but I sure like it! :) think I've noticed it before, but just didn't know what I was noticing!
